Domain Types - Expiring and Deleting Domains: Dec 5, 2006
It's virtually impossible to get the best domain names any more without paying the current owner of the domain name a huge premium. Domains like Money.com, CreditCards.com, Disease.com, Life.com, etc. were all taken long ago.
When checking the list of domain names that are pending deletion, there are several different types of domain names to consider attempting to register. The vast majority of expiring domain names are just plain bad domain names that never should have been registered in the first place. Which deleting domain names should you go after for investment or resale?
There are still some expiring domain names that are worthy of consideration. One of the expiring domain names we listed a few days ago ended up being snapped up by a domain drop company, and is now listed for sale at $5,000.

Apart from the bad domain names, the domain names that are most likely to appear on drop lists are Typo domains (such as DisneyChamnnel.com), domains that sound like they could make a good business name (such as GamePunch.com, CMCconsulting, com, CheckReviews.com), short domains (k1n.com), dot-info or dot-biz domains (documents.info, conservative.info), and keyword domains (californiaoceanfrontrealestate.com).
In general, I don't like the Typo domains that may infringe on someone's copyright—especially if it's Walt Disney. Keyword domains can be good, but not if they're extremely long, like the California real estate domain. Short domains can be good if they sound good and are memorable (like a2k.com), but otherwise I don't particularly recommend them.
